This month, we are excited to spotlight two outstanding members of the Whiskey Creek community, Jim and Lisa Cote of 1483 Sautern Drive. Since moving to Whiskey Creek in 2018, the Cotes have consistently embodied the spirit of kindness, generosity, and neighborly support that makes our neighborhood so special.
Their neighbor, Kelly, nominated them with heartfelt appreciation. “Jim and Lisa are such caring neighbors,” she shared. “When Hurricane Ian took down my large front palm and two trees in the back, Jim was at my door with his chainsaw, helping me cut and stack everything for pickup, no questions asked.” Not only did Jim bring the equipment and fuel, but he also extended his helping hand to others on the street, working alongside other neighbors like Mike to clear storm debris and restore yards.
But the Cotes’ neighborly spirit does not stop after hurricane season. They are known throughout the neighborhood for small but meaningful gestures like bringing in trash and recycling bins for others, delivering homemade baked goods to neighbors recovering from illness or surgery, and even sharing storm panels and hardware to help others prepare for Florida’s unpredictable weather.
“It’s the little things they do that make such a big difference,” Kelly said. “They do it all without expectation. I feel so blessed to have such terrific neighbors on both sides of me.”
Whiskey Creek is lucky to have residents like Jim and Lisa Cote, people who turn a neighborhood into a true community. Thank you both for all you do!
We love recognizing the people who make our neighborhood special, whether through acts of kindness or by creating a yard that makes us all slow down and admire.
Do you know someone who deserves to be our Neighbor of the Month or has a yard that stands out as Yard of the Month? Whether they have lived here for decades, quietly volunteer their time, work in an inspiring field, or simply brighten our days (or lawns!), we want to hear about them!
