There is a subcontractor installing new fiber lines throughout Tanglewood and Whiskey Creek that has caused some issues. Although a utility has the right to work in the easement in front of or sometimes behind our property, they need to be courteous, and I understand that is sometimes not the case with this contractor. I have informed our LCSO Security detail to ask the deputies that are patrolling to speak with the contractor. I also spoke directly with Deputy Raymond Tellez Ferriol and he was going to seek them out and speak with them.
So, this is a classic case of “see something, say something.” If you have an issue or see something strange, look for the deputy if he or she is on duty and ask for help.
This month there were an increased number of stops with citations and/or warnings issued.
Deputy Sean Gonzalez had a busy four days in May:
On May 4th, he issued 17 citations.
On May 15th he issued 13 citations between 7pm and 1am.
On May 21st he issued 12 citations between 1pm and 6pm.
On May 22nd he issued 15 citations between 8am and 1pm.
I sent Deputy Gonzalez an email thanking him for writing numerous citations and keeping our neighborhood safe. This was his response: “I appreciate you taking the time out of your day to send this email and to mention that you and the residents of Whiskey Creek appreciate the work being done in the neighborhood. Whiskey Creek detail can be difficult to get assigned to at times, but I will continue to work it whenever I have the opportunity to do so. I enjoy working in the area and interacting with the residents. I also enjoy educating residents, visitors, and motorists passing through the neighborhood, especially with the amount of golf carts, bicyclists, and pedestrians in the area.” Thank you again, sir!
On May 17th, Sgt. Jarrod Cantrell, was flagged down by resident reference to a suspicious person by the club house. He also worked on a crash on May 13th at Whiskey Creek and Presidential.
On May 23rd, CPL A. Eubanks checked on another LCSO unit at the stop sign at Whiskey Creek Blvd and Sheffield. He mentioned that LCSO Zone units were monitoring traffic in Whiskey Creek as well.
On 5/26, Deputy N. De Leon stopped a vehicle for running a stop sign and gave three citations and tried to remove the tag as there was a seize tag order. The deputy was unable to remove the tag due to rusted screws. (Registered owner removed vehicle from roadway by calling tow truck.) It always amazes me that people who have serious issues with their driver’s license get pulled over by breaking a minor traffic law. He also gave two additional warnings that day.
On another note, I am not sure how the potential tax cuts that will be on the ballot in November will affect our MSTBU, our Municipal Services Taxing/Benefits Unit. We are taxed in Whiskey Creek a small percentage to fund everything from LCSO security detail to the common landscaping to Wall Repair. I will stay on top of any changes to our LCSO detail.
