Happy Summer, Whiskey Creek Friends and Families
As summer continues, we hope you and your family are enjoying a safe, relaxing, and fun season. This summer also brought the FIFA World Cup to the United States, as one of this year’s host countries. I enjoyed watching as many matches as possible, especially Team USA as they battled on the pitch all the way to the Round of 16. Their tournament ended there, but they represented our country with tremendous determination and reinvigorated our spirit. Good luck to all who are rooting for their other home Country.
While summer is for fun, it also marks the heart of hurricane season. We encourage everyone to prepare now and do not wait until a storm is approaching.
Florida continues to offer tax savings to help residents prepare. During July and August, the state provides sales tax exemptions on many disaster preparedness items, and Florida also has year-round sales tax exemptions on many emergency supplies.
Tax-exempt items include household batteries, portable generators (priced at $3,000 or less), fuel tanks, tarps, tie-down kits, bottled water, first aid kits, most non-perishable food, fire extinguishers, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, sunscreen, and insect repellent.
Additional seasonal tax holidays include:
- Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday: July 20 – August 20
- Tax relief on health and safety items, including life jackets, bicycle helmets, sunscreen, and smoke detectors.
- Free admission to Florida State Parks during designated promotional periods.
- Florida Hunting, Fishing & Camping Tax Holiday: September 1 – December 31.
These programs help families prepare for emergencies while also reducing the cost of everyday essentials.
The Whiskey Creek Civic Association Board is on its annual summer recess, with monthly meetings resuming in September. Our meetings may pause during the summer, but our work certainly does not. We continue to work on community enhancement projects, including entrance improvements, landscaping, neighborhood events, our monthly newsletter, and a redesigned holiday lighting display that we look forward to unveiling later this year.
These projects are made possible through the support of our Civic Association members. An annual voluntary membership of $125 helps fund community beautification, neighborhood improvements, deed restriction enforcement, communications, and special events that benefit everyone in Whiskey Creek.
If you are new to the neighborhood or have not yet renewed your membership, we encourage you to join us. Our goal is 100% community participation, and we currently have approximately 30% of households participating. Every membership strengthens our ability to protect and improve the community we all enjoy.

If you haven’t visited the Whiskey Creek Country Club recently, stop by and enjoy. Try the new menu, drink specials, trivia nights, live music, and many other weekly events. Whether you’re looking for a casual happy hour, a great meal, or simply an opportunity to spend time with friends and neighbors, the Club continues to be a perfect gathering place for our community.
Whiskey Creek is one of the sought-out and friendliest neighborhoods in Southwest Florida. Whether you’re raising kids, enjoying your retirement, or just simply enjoying the neighborhood, everyone here helps make Whiskey Creek a place we can all be proud to call home.
The WCCA Board is honored to serve this community, and we sincerely appreciate your continued trust, support, and involvement.
Good summer vibes to you and your family.
