For the month of June there were 16 citations issued for speeding or for not coming to a complete stop at the four-way stop intersections.
Typically, LCSO Officers will park with radar at both entrances and on four way stop intersections to monitor traffic. Most of the citations are issued to through traffic on Whiskey Creek Drive. Hopefully this will deter them from trying to save time using our neighborhood as a shortcut.
On June 12th, Detective Deak had a busy shift starting at 7pm. He saw a door-to-door salesperson, and he followed him around until he decided to leave the community. There are signs at both entrances clearly stating “No Soliciting.”
He then observed an underage driver on a golf cart and had the parents pick up the golf cart. Under Florida law, anyone under 18 operating a golf cart on public roads must possess a valid learner’s permit or driver’s license. Drivers 18 and older must carry a government-issued photo ID. This effectively makes 15 the minimum legal age to drive a golf cart on public roadways.
He then observed two dirt bikes on the roadway and as one rider lived nearby he followed the first one home and had the parents pick up the other as he did not live in Whiskey Creek.
He stopped and spoke to five juveniles just for law enforcement relations.
His last interaction was with another dirt bike on roadway. He did not live nearby, and his parents refused to pick him up. He went to a nearby friend’s house walking the bike.
Hopefully by the time you read this in August the disruption with the installation of T-Mobile fiber is complete and our lawns are back to normal. Quantum fiber is already in the neighborhood, but competition is a good thing and could help with pricing. I would expect that sometime in the near future internet access with be available from various satellite providers to provide even more competition.
