We are back meeting with this month’s March meeting of the Whiskey Creek Ladies’ Club. President Peg Mocharski opened the meeting with a flag salute and a welcome. The inspirational message was given by Ellie about “no one is perfect.” Tables were decorated for St. Patrick’s Day by Cathy Trent.
Cathy Trent brought in the Ladies’ Club membership for 2025-2026 brochure and they were handed out to those in attendance. There are 2 remaining meetings this year April and May. The May meeting will be a Tea Party and you are welcome to wear a hat. Our “Bill the Hat,” one of the golf cart rangers, will be selecting the “best hat.”
The WCLC Book Club meets the third Thursday of each month at 10:30 am at the WCCC. There is a book discussion and lunch. Peg and Rosalie Merola encouraged members to join the book club. The next book with be announced at the April meeting.
Nancy Olson presented a lovely presentation on the Six Mile Cypress Slough. She had a powerpoint showing the Slough’s purpose, the animals and plants available for viewing at the Slough, and how the Slough was started. There is a raised boardwalk trail and benches for easy walking and enjoying nature. The Slough is free and open every day, though parking has a small fee. There is an interpretive center that is open Tuesday through Sunday. There are also guided tours mornings during season and weekly off season. There is a “Friends of the Slough” club that is available to join.
The next meeting is April 2, 2026. Responses to the next meeting are due on Wednesday, one week prior to the meeting. We encourage you to make your meal selection for the following month when you sign in at the meeting. If you need to cancel, please notify Linda Jones or the club at least 8 days prior to the meeting. Otherwise, you will be responsible for the cost of your meal.
The Whiskey Creek Ladies’ Club is a social and service organization. Membership is open to all women in Lee County. We meet on the first Thursday of each month at the Whiskey Creek Country Club. Social time is at 11:30 am, and meetings start at 12:00 pm from October to May. An interesting and informative program is presented each month, which is a great opportunity to learn about the many programs offered in southwest Florida. New members and guests are always welcome.
